Wanting children for lesbian couples - becoming a family together
For many lesbian couples, the desire to raise their own child and go through life together as a family is full of hope, questions and emotions. The fertility doctors in Berlin would like to accompany you sensitively and professionally on this journey, right from the start.
At our fertility centre in Berlin, we create a space in which all family forms feel welcome and respected. We know that lesbian couples often face particular challenges when it comes to the desire to have children - be it in the medical, legal or social sphere. This makes it all the more important for us to treat you as equals and offer care that takes your individual needs seriously.
Today, there are various medical methods available that enable same-sex couples to realise their dream of having their own child. One frequently chosen method is insemination with donor sperm, in which the sperm cells of a selected donor are introduced into the uterus at the time of ovulation. This method is particularly gentle and is often used successfully in cases of good fertility.
In some cases, in vitro fertilisation can also be useful. This involves fertilisation taking place outside the body before the resulting embryos are transferred to the uterus. This method is used, for example, if there are medical reasons for more intensive treatment or if previous inseminations have not been successful.
The choice of sperm donor plays a central role in all methods. We work exclusively with qualified sperm banks that adhere to the highest medical and ethical standards.
In addition to the medical aspects, we attach great importance to comprehensive legal counselling. In Germany, married women can now be jointly recognised as the legal parents of a child. For unmarried couples, stepchild adoption is often necessary. We support you in all matters relating to custody, parental recognition and the legal framework conditions that are relevant to you.
The fertility doctors in Berlin are at your side from the first consultation through to support during treatment. We take time for your story, your questions and your wishes. If you would like to find out more or arrange a personal consultation, we look forward to getting to know you.
